Central Armed Police Forces Examination is a uniform classification of security forces under the power of Home Affairs Ministry. The seven security forces are Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Force, Assam Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Security Guard, Sashastra Seema Bal and Central Industrial Security Force.

THE EXAMINATION RECRUITS IN THREE CATEGORIES:

  • Gazetted officers are recruited through CRPF Assistant Commandant Examination which is carried out by UPSC.
  • Subordinate Officers are recruited as Sub Inspectors through a competitive exam carried out by SSC
  • Constables are also recruited by SSC through a competitive examination.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Educational Qualification:
  • The candidates applying for the examination of CRPF (Assistant Commandant) must hold a graduation degree from a government recognized university.
  • SEX:
  • Male and female both can send their application for the post Assistant Commandant.
  • Nationality:
  • No person who is not a citizen of India shall except the consent of the Central Government signified in writing can be appointed or employed under the rules.
    Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar, the appointment, enrolment or employment of a subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these rules.
  • 4. Doubt clearing sessions:

The admission process in Sainik Schools is administered by Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence. It comes under the society registration act (XXI of 1860). Board of governors function under the chairmanship of the Defence Minister is the chief executive body of Sainik Schools. The administration has state government as well as Ministry of Defence. There are 25 schools across India.Only boys can study in Sainik Schools. Here seats of reserved for children having defence background and for the children of other government officials. The entrance exam is conducted for class VI and IX. Students who are between the age of 10 to 11 years and 13 to 14 years respectively on 1stjuly of the year are eligible to apply for the entrance exam. For IX class, the applicant should be studying in VIII in a recognized school. Sainik Schools are affiliated to the CBSE Board, New Delhi.

SUBJECTS ASKED IN SAINIK SCHOOLS ENTRANCE EXAM:

  • FOR CLASS VI;
    • Mathematics and Language ability (duration is 2 Hours)
    • Intelligence Test (duration is 1 Hour)
  • FOR CLASS IX;
    • Mathematics and Science (For 2 Hours)
    • English and Social Science (For 2 Hours)

RESERVATION CRITERIA:

67% seats are reserved for the local people of the state whereas 33% seats are open for students of all other states and UTs. For defencepersonnels including ex-servicemen 25% seats are reserved, for SC 15% and 7 ½ % for ST candidates. The application form for the entrance exam is released in the months of October and November. The entrance exam is held in the month of January every year.

EXAMINATION PATTERN:

Central Armed Police Forces Examination for Assistant Commandant follows a pattern to select it candidates:

(i)Written Examination:

The written examination is carried out by UPSC which comprises of two papers:

Paper 1: General Ability and Intelligence – 250 marks: This paper consists of Objective Multiple Choice Type Questions based on general ability and intelligence.
Paper 2: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 marks: The candidate is allowed to write essay in English or Hindi for this particular paper but rest of the paper remains only in English.

(ii) Physical and Medical Standard Tests:

After written examination the candidates are given physical and medical test by following criteria:

(iii) Interview: Once the candidates have cleared their physical and medical test, they are forwarded for interview or personality test. In few cases the candidates are given special permission for interview round if they are not able to pass Physical test by Appellate Authority. This test carries 150 marks. All the candidates who are selected are issued Detailed Application Form, in which they require to fill their preferences along with other information.

(iv) Merit/Final Selection: After all these tests, the merit list is drawn based on marks they obtained in different round.
